Save and Reuse Your Signature — Sign PDFs Faster
Sign PDFs Faster with Saved Signatures
If you regularly sign documents, you know the repetitive drill. Draw your signature. Adjust the size. Place it on the page. Repeat for every new document.
Not anymore. PDFlys lets you save up to 10 signatures and reuse them instantly across sessions. Whether you need a formal signature for contracts, a casual one for internal documents, or your initials for approvals — save them once and sign documents in seconds.
Why Save Your Signature?
Saved signatures eliminate repetitive work and speed up your document workflow.
Common use cases:
- Sign multiple contracts without redrawing your signature each time
- Maintain consistency across all your signed documents
- Create signature variations for different contexts (formal, initials, casual)
- Speed up approval workflows with one-click signing
Your saved signatures are stored securely in your account and sync across all your devices. Create your signature once on your laptop, then use it on your tablet or phone.
How to Save and Reuse Signatures
Saving a signature takes just a few clicks. Here's how it works.
Step 1: Sign In to Your PDFlys Account
Navigate to the PDFlys Sign PDF tool and sign in with your Google account. Saved signatures require a free account to persist across sessions.
Step 2: Create Your Signature
You have four ways to create a signature:
- Draw: Use your mouse or touchscreen to draw your signature naturally
- Type: Type your name and choose from four generic font styles (Serif, Cursive, Sans-serif, Monospace)
- Generate: Use the AI Signature Generator to create a handwritten-style signature from six professional fonts — this is separate from the Type tab and produces more natural-looking results
- Upload: Upload an existing signature image (PNG or JPG)
Step 3: Save Your Signature
After creating your signature, click "Save Signature" and give it a descriptive name. Use names like "Formal Signature," "Initials," or "Casual Signature" to distinguish between your saved options.
Your signature is saved to your account instantly and encrypted with your user authentication. The signature image never passes through any third-party servers during signing operations — all PDF processing happens in your browser.
Step 4: Reuse Your Saved Signature
The next time you need to sign a PDF, your saved signatures appear in the signature gallery. Click any saved signature to use it immediately. No need to draw, type, or upload again.
Resize and position the signature exactly where you need it on each page. Add the date below the signature if required. Click "Apply Signature & Download" to get your signed PDF.
Tip
Save multiple signature styles for different contexts. A formal full-name signature for external contracts, initials for internal approvals, and a generated handwriting-style signature for casual correspondence.
Manage Your Saved Signatures
PDFlys lets you save up to 10 signatures per account. Visit the "My Signatures" page from your profile menu to manage them.
On this page you can:
- View all your saved signatures with creation dates
- Create new signatures using any of the four methods
- Delete signatures you no longer need
- See how many signature slots you've used (X of 10)
When you reach the 10-signature limit, delete an old signature to make room for a new one.
Note
Deleted signatures are permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Only delete signatures you're certain you won't need again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where are my signatures stored?
Your signatures are stored securely in your PDFlys account, protected by your Google authentication. Only you can access them — PDFlys staff cannot view or download your signature images. When you apply a signature to a PDF, the document processing happens entirely in your browser.
What's the difference between Type and Generate?
The Type tab offers four generic font categories (Serif, Cursive, Sans-serif, Monospace) — simple and quick. The Generate tab uses six handwriting-style fonts (Caveat, Dancing Script, Great Vibes, Indie Flower, Permanent Marker, Sacramento) with deterministic variations to create more natural-looking signatures. Both can be saved for reuse.
Can I use saved signatures on any device?
Yes. Your saved signatures sync across all devices where you're signed in to your PDFlys account. Create a signature on your laptop and use it on your phone or tablet.
What file formats can I upload as signatures?
PNG or JPG images. For best results, use PNG with a transparent background. High contrast between the signature and background produces the cleanest result when placed on documents.
Is saving signatures free?
Yes. Creating a PDFlys account costs nothing, saving signatures costs nothing, and signing documents costs nothing. No subscriptions, no per-signature fees, no caps on how many documents you can sign.
Pair Saving with Generating
If you haven't tried the AI Signature Generator yet, it's a natural companion to the save feature. Generate a professional handwriting-style signature, save it to your account, and reuse it across every document you sign — without ever picking up a pen or drawing with a trackpad.
For documents that need extra security after signing, use Protect PDF to add password encryption before sharing.
