Maximum PDF Compression
The most aggressive compression available. This preset combines high compression level, 72 DPI image downsampling, 20% image quality, metadata stripping, and grayscale conversion to achieve the absolute smallest file size possible. Best for archiving, internal drafts, text-heavy documents, and situations where file size matters far more than image appearance. Color images will be converted to grayscale.

FAQ
Why does maximum compression convert to grayscale?▾
Grayscale images contain one channel instead of three (RGB), reducing image data by roughly two-thirds. Combined with aggressive quality reduction and low DPI, this achieves the smallest possible file. If you need to keep colors, disable grayscale in the advanced settings.
Will the text still be selectable?▾
Yes. Text remains fully selectable, searchable, and copy-able regardless of compression settings. Only images and embedded photos are affected by the compression. The text layer is preserved at full quality.
How small can a PDF get?▾
A typical 10MB document with images can compress to 200-500KB with maximum settings. A text-only document can often reach under 100KB. The exact result depends on the type and amount of content in your original PDF. Documents with many high-resolution photos will still be larger than text-only files.
