FAQ

How much can PDF file size be reduced?
It depends on the content. PDFs with large images see the biggest reductions — often 50-80% smaller. Text-heavy PDFs with few images may see more modest reductions of 10-30%.
Will compression make my PDF look blurry?
Text and vector graphics are not affected. At low and medium compression, images remain sharp. High compression reduces image quality more aggressively, which may be visible on photos.
Is compression done in my browser?
Yes. PDFlys compresses PDFs entirely in your browser. No files are uploaded to any server.
Can I compress a PDF that is already compressed?
You can, but the additional reduction will be small. If a PDF has already been optimized, there is less data to compress further.
Will links and bookmarks survive compression?
Yes. Compression targets image data and redundant objects. Hyperlinks, bookmarks, and form fields remain intact.
